1. Welcome & Introduction
Thank you for your interest in participating in the Texas Puerto Rican Day Parade at Dallas City Hall. This event is a proud celebration of Puerto Rican culture, heritage, and achievements in Texas. Our goal is to create a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for participants, spectators, volunteers, and organizers alike.
To ensure a smooth parade experience, all participants must adhere to the following rules and regulations. Contingents must acknowledge their understanding and compliance by signing this document.
The Texas Puerto Rican Day Parade Committee reserves the right to enforce these rules, including issuing warnings, assessing additional fees, suspensions, or removal from the parade route for any violations.
2. Orientation
✔️All contingents must register and attend at least one orientation session before participating in the parade.
✔️Orientation sessions will cover parade guidelines, safety protocols, and annual themes.
✔️The representative attending the orientation must be present with the contingent on parade day.
3. Registration & Participants
✔️All groups must complete an application before the registration deadline.
✔️Registration must include participant names, contact details, and the lead contact.
✔️Contingents must describe their float or delegation theme.
✔️Any public figures or known individuals participating must be disclosed in the application.
4. Wristbands
✔️Each participant must wear a wristband to march in the parade.
✔️Each contingent receives 50 free wristbands with registration.
✔️Additional wristbands may be purchased for $1.50 each.
✔️Late wristband requests are subject to approval and may be denied.
5. Credentials
✔️No one is permitted on the parade route without proper credentials.
✔️The misuse of credentials may result in removal from the parade.
6. Floats and Parades Leads
✔️Each contingent must designate a Contingent Lead.
✔️The lead will be issued a lanyard and badge to be worn at all times.
✔️The lead is responsible for ensuring the group follows parade guidelines.
7. Cultural Themes
✔️All groups should incorporate Puerto Rican cultural elements into their presentation.
✔️Contingents failing to represent Puerto Rican culture may be sanctioned.
8. Values
✔️Participants must reflect positive imagery and behavior that honors Puerto Rican culture.
9. Flag Use
✔️The Puerto Rican flag must be displayed respectfully.
✔️Alternative flag designs may be used but should be accompanied by the official Puerto Rican flag.
10. Parade Sashes
✔️Only individuals officially honored by the parade may wear honorary sashes.
✔️Pageant winners must specify their title clearly on their sash.
11. Third-Party Participation
✔️No third parties may join a contingent without prior authorization.
✔️Groups cannot split registration fees to share space with another organization.
✔️Sponsorship presence must be pre-approved.
12. Substance Use
✔️The use of alcohol, cigarettes, vapes, or illegal substances is strictly prohibited.
13. Sound Restrictions
✔️Loud music and sound effects must be turned off near designated quiet areas.
✔️Emergency vehicle-like sounds (sirens, horns, flashing lights) are prohibited.
14. Parade Direction & Conduct
✔️All participants must follow instructions from parade organizers and law enforcement.
✔️Failure to comply may result in removal from the parade route.
15. Floats & Contingent Standards
✔️Floats must reflect Puerto Rican culture and themes.
✔️Throwing items into the crowd is strictly prohibited.
✔️Float capacity limits must be observed for safety.
✔️Unauthorized vehicles are not allowed in the parade.
16. Vehicles
✔️No motorcycles, large trucks, or rental vans are allowed.
✔️All vehicles must comply with parade safety regulations.
✔️Oversized vehicles may require additional fees and approval.
17. Disbanding & Cleanup
✔️All floats and groups must exit as directed by event staff.
✔️Contingents are responsible for keeping the parade area clean.
